V MART RETAIL





V-mart is a multi-brand family store that provides its customers true value for money.We offer our customers a great shopping experience each time they visit us by offering a vast range of products under one roof. Maintaining high standards in quality and design, our stores have come up to offer fashion garments at down-to-earth prices and over time emerged as the destination of choice for bargain hunters and the fashionable alike.
We primarily started our operations with the chain of “Value Retail” departmental store located in metro cities. Our stores cater the needs of the entire family altogether by offering apparels, general merchandise and kirana (cornershop) goods.
We have more than 59 stores across 51 cities including metro cities with a total area of more than 4 lac sq.ft. Our stores are located in prime cities such as New Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab, Chandigarh, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. We are among the pioneers in setting up modern ambience stores or large retail malls across various small towns and cities including Sultanpur, Ujjain, Motihari and more.

History

First incorporated as Varin Commercial Private Limited under the Companies Act in 2002 in West Bengal. Then in 2004, we opened our maiden store in New Delhi.
The company was subsequently renamed to V-mart Retail Private Limited in 2006. In the year of 2008, we hit the base by registering V-mart Retail as a public limited entity.
As the time passes by we took the shape of a renowned family brand that caters the needs of whole family by offering high quality retail products. Along with growing customers, we achieved a turnover of over Rs 2,000 million in 2011-12.

Supply Chain Management

We believe an efficient supply chain system is the backbone of retail operations and it is very essential to strike an optimum balance between the adequate level of inventory whilst ensuring availability of products at all stores as per customer needs, as well as reducing operational costs. 

Our comprehensive Enterprise Resource Planning (“ERP”) backed supply chain management system comprises of planning, merchandising, procurement, standardization, vendor management, logistics, quality control, pilferage control, replacement and replenishment.

V-mart adopts an integrated pro-active approach to manage our supply chain in which we plan our supply schedule based on the forecasted demand. This also helps us in understanding as well as adapting to the changing patterns in customer behaviour. Our merchandise and procurement planning, supply chain management and distribution network enables us to have shorter business cycles, thereby resulting in efficient working capital management.

Mr. Lalit Agarwal, 
Chairman and Managing Director (CMD): 
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Bombay University, and a Diploma in Financial Management from the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai. He was also involved in setting up of a printing and packaging unit, a water theme park in Kolkata and was associated with a retail chain till 2003. He has more than 16 years of rich experience in the retail industry. With a vision to establish the concept of “value retailing” in certain untapped regions of India, he setup up units of retail stores under the brand name of “V-Mart” in the year 2003. He spearheads the company and is responsible for formulating and implementing the business             plans.

Mr. Hemant Agarwal,
Director:
He garnered his Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from Utkal University, Cuttack. He started his career by joining the family retail store in Cuttack and was integral in the formation of the company. He has experience in tackling and resolving the issues in retail industry and has been instrumental in developing a strong vendor base thereby, strengthening the procurement of apparel merchandise, which is the backbone of our retail malls. He is also responsible for managing the growth and development of our private labels and persistently working as a catalyst for business operations of our existing stores and continued expansion in western and central India.

Mr. Madan Agarwal,
Director:
He has the Bachelor’s Degree in Arts from the City College, the University of Calcutta. He has more than 3 decades of experience in retail industry. He started his career by opening a retail shop in the year 1975 and later on in 1979 opened another retail store of apparels and footwear in Cuttack known as “Shreeman Shreemati”. He is a mentor and a guiding force for our Company’s growth. He provides vital rationale inputs and insights time to time on cost control and the overseas procurement of general merchandise and Kirana Bazaar business verticals of our Company.

Mr. Krishan Kumar Gupta,
Director:
He is an associate member of the Indian Institute of Bankers. He also holds a post graduate Diploma in bank management from the National Institute of Bank Management, Pacific Rim Bankers Programme Certification from University of Washington Business School plus Diploma Certification in Sales and Marketing Management, Business Management, Export and Import Management, Financial Management and International Business Management from National Institute of Labour Education and Management. He is currently a director in Resurgent India Limited and has previously worked as an executive in Central Bank of India and handled various portfolios such as credit, recovery, development and human resources development.

Mr. Aakash Moondhra,

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce from the University of Delhi and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Southern Methodist University, Texas. He is a steady member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India. He has held various positions in Nokia India Private Limited, Baring Private Equity Partners (India), heading the retail vertical, Bharti Retail Private Limited, Bharti Airtel Limited and AT&T Corporation and currently working as a chief financial officer in Jasper Infotech Private Limited, (www.snapdeal.com).

Shoppers Stop is an Indian department store chain promoted by the K Raheja Corp Group (Chandru L Raheja Group), started in the year 1991 with its first store in Andheri,Mumai.  Shoppers Stop Ltd has been awarded "the Hall of Fame" and won "the Emerging Market Retailer of the Year Award", by World Retail Congress at Barcelona, on April 10, 2008. Shoppers Stop is listed on the BSE. In 2011, Shoppers Stop has 53 stores in India.
Shoppers Stop is one of the leading retail stores in India. Shoppers Stop began by operating a chain of department stores under the name “Shoppers’ Stop” in India. Shoppers Stop retails merchandise under its own labels, such as STOP, Kashish, LIFE and Vettorio Fratini, Elliza Donatein, Acropolis etc. The company also licensees for Austin Reed (London), an international brand, who’s men's and women's outerwear are retailed in India exclusively through the chain. In October 2009, Shoppers Stop has bought the license for merchandising Zoozoo the brand mascot for Vodafone India.

Marketing
In April 2008, Shoppers Stop changed its logo and adopted the mantra "Start Something New" and introduced international brands like CK Jeans, Tommy Hilfiger, FCUK, Mustang, Dior across the stores. The focus of the reposition was on the service, ambience upgradation and customer connect. Shoppers Stop connects with the youth audience through adopting the communication routes relevant to youth, up the fashion quotient through merchandising, and create ambience that connects with the mindset. The brand campaign addresses environment-related issues in a youthful, tongue-in-cheek manner. Crossword Bookstores


Crossword Bookstores is the largest chain of bookstores in India with 83 branches. Shoppers Stop acquired 100 per cent stake in bookstore chain Crossword.Crossword is positioned as a lifestyle bookstore with their spacious, well laid out stores which encourage customers ease in browsing through the merchandise of books, music, stationary and toys. Crossword is a wholly owned subsidiary of Shopper's Stop Ltd.
